Strut Your Stuff!  Fiber Fusion's theme-based creative project

Formerly our Stitch-Along, we are changing things up this year!

In effort to be a more all-inclusive show, we have replaced our stitch-along with a new idea.  Our new creative contest allows ALL types of fiber enthusiasts  - including basket makers, weavers, knitters, crocheters, felters, quilters and sewers - to participate!

Each year we will offer a project with a different theme.   There won't be a particular pattern, just a theme to follow and let your creativity flow!

The theme for 2018 is:   "In Our Own Backyard"

The rules are simple:
  • Create an entry that reflects the theme of "In Our Own Backyard".  This can be any project of your choice using fibers you gather, source, or create from our wonderful Pacific Northwest.  Your creation can be anything you hand craft. The only requirement is that the raw materials must come from this area.  You don’t have to have grown them yourself, only gathered them here…
  • Please attach an index card telling us about where you obtained the raw materials, if you gathered them yourself or bought them from someone who gathered them for you.  … for example, fibers for spinning, yarn from local fiber animals, or basket weaving materials.
  • Use any pattern or design you like.
  • Use whatever fiber technique(s) you choose - knit, crochet, weave, felt, macrame, sew, or ??? - to create your entry .
  • Use all natural materials.  No synthetic materials allowed as we are a Natural Fiber Show.
  • Quilters using cotton, wool  and any other natural fiber are encouraged to enter .
  • Fiber artists using deconstructed materials, ie: old sweaters of natural fibers, cotton denim, etc, are also encouraged to enter.
  • Anything made of recycled material must be made of natural materials, ie: cotton, wool, alpaca, silk, etc.
  • All skill levels are invited!
Entries won’t be judged, but will be on display with all other "In Our Own Backyard'’ entries in in our Fiber Art Gallery at Fiber Fusion.

Entering is easy - and for each entry you submit, you have a chance to win $25!

There is no entry fee and no pre-registration requirement. Just create your bag, fill out an entry identification tag, and bring your entry to Fiber Fusion or to one of our designated drop off sites prior to the show.

Bring your entries to the Fiber Arts area at Fiber Fusion during set-up on Friday, October 19 between 2:00 - 7:00 pm, or on Saturday, October 20 between 8:00 - 9:00 am.

There are two categories in which to enter, and there will be 2 winners - one in each category. Each winner will receive $25 in cash.
  • Category A:  Youth - up to age 18 (one $25.00 cash prize)
  • Category B:  Adult - age 19 and over (one $25.00 cash prize)
There is a maximum of 2 entries per person  - entries can be all knit, all crochet, woven, sewn, or any combination - as long as it's no more than 2 total entries.

Winners of the drawing will be announced Saturday afternoon (exact time to be determined).  Participants need not be present to win.

Your entry must remain on display thru entire Fiber Fusion show and picked up between 4:00 – 5:00 pm  Sunday, October 21.

We hope you have fun with this project and encourage you to share your progress, questions and comments with us on our Ravelry and / or Facebook page.  We look forward to seeing your creative entry!
