Chair Announcement - Mar 4, 2023
I know we have been quiet for a while, but we’ve been anything but idle. The Fiber Fusion Planning Team members are all putting in the time and effort to make 2023 an amazing year! I am thankful every day to work with such a wonderful group of people.
Please remember, Fiber Fusion officially moved to the 1st full weekend in June.
Our 2023 dates are June 3rd and 4th. Please join us at Evergreen State Fairgrounds!
Keep an eye on our website! It is continuously getting updated as we finalize plans for each area and activity at Fiber Fusion. If you find mistakes on our website and let us know at [email protected], you’ll get a gold star!
There was a lot of ‘NEW’ last year: new dates, new buildings, new website, new team members, and more.
All of that ‘NEW’ went surprisingly smoothly, so we’re going to try out some more ideas this year.
The biggest of these new ideas is our NEW “Featured Breed”.
We see this as a way to thread together the various parts of Fiber Fusion. Breed themed elements will be added to every part of our event. Fiber breeds can be so unique in their character. Featuring a single breed will allow our community to explore and experience it deeply.
2023’s Featured Breed is the Dorset. This includes horned and polled in both white and natural colors.
See all the Dorset Fun to be had throughout Fiber Fusion!
And the highly anticipated → Classes!
Fleece!
Vendor registration
Our goal is to bring educational opportunities, while supporting our fiber community including producers, artists, vendors, mills, and everyone involved in the fiber world.
If you’d like to help Fiber Fusion, there are many options:
Why do we ask for help?
See our Covid-19 Policy page for information regarding all current Covid-19 requirements.
I hope everyone is well and happy and we look forward to seeing you in June!

It is with deepest regret that we bring you this news.
Fiber Fusion Northwest 2021 has been cancelled.
When we last made the announcement to go forward with 2021, the Covid-19 situation and our volunteer numbers were very different from what we are seeing now. The Delta variant that is happening throughout the state and region has impacted our show in many ways, the hardest hit is our volunteers. It is impossible to run our show without those volunteers. Additionally, we have had many cancellations from vendors, judges, and others. After an emergency vote, our Planning Team has decided to cancel this year’s show and focus on our June 2022 show.
Yes, you heard that correctly, we are moving our show to the first weekend of June. Thankfully, it allows us to have open doors, spread out farther, have much better weather, and avoid having a festival on the cusp of flu season as well.
Come see us in better weather on June 4th and 5th in 2022!
***Vendors, Instructors, and Students will all be notified of the next steps regarding booth spaces and refunds. Please keep an eye on your email.***

More Sad News:
Lisa Lewis has stepped down as Class Coordinator for Fiber Fusion.
Lisa was one of the longest-standing members of the Planning Team, and was fundamental in shaping the event that Fiber Fusion has become. I’ve learned a lot from working with her over the years. My trust in her commitment and follow-through has never faltered. Her classes delighted many and we rarely saw the mountains of work she carried. It was simply handled and along the way she always offered to help others. Her touch is seen in every aspect of our event, and the legacy of her efforts will be felt for many years to come. It is with sadness that I see her go.
Please join me in wishing Lisa the best. We will remember your immense contribution with warm thoughts and memories. Best wishes to you for the future.
With respect, Heidi Lucey

We are thrilled to announce the Fiber Fusion Planning Committee met and voted unanimously to hold Fiber Fusion 2021.
To be clear, it will be a unique year. Our community includes many high risk members and we want your help in protecting our fiber family. Therefore, we will be making the following changes.
We moved to larger buildings to give us some additional space, so you can have all of the other things you’ve come to love at Fiber Fusion.
Join us to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones on October 16th & 17th, 2021 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA as we get together, celebrate natural fiber, and revel in our fiber community.
Reminder: All policies subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. We will continue to follow all policies set forth by Washington State, Snohomish County, Evergreen State Fairgrounds, and the CDC.

FFNW Community Poll
Fiber Fusion is still looking at options for 2022 and beyond.
Help shape the future by filling out this poll.
Please share it with everyone!
Hello all.
This has been a trying time for everyone, and as we start to get back on our feet we are sure to step on some rocks in the road.
We have learned that OFFF (Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival) is moving to our traditional dates (the third weekend of October) due to venue issues. We are glad to see them resuming their event, but regret the hard choices they have been forced to make.
OFFF signed a multi-year contract for our traditional weekend, so we are grappling with how best to serve the fiber community. We would like you to help us shape the future of Fiber Fusion.
Unfortunately, we are unable to change dates this year as our fairground is booked solid, so that option is off the table.
We have created this poll to help gather information. Please share it with everyone!

News Update!
Our planning team is furiously working away planning for a live event in 2021.
We had planned to expand Fiber Fusion in 2020. The pandemic got in the way and now we are hoping to move forward in 2021. We are moving to larger buildings (Event Center and Pavilion) and Classes will be in the same building (4-H Building). We will be expanding Fiber Arts, adding an Angora Rabbit Show, increasing the live animal area, focusing on Demonstrations, enlarging our Spinning Circles, and more.
Given that the show is the 3rd weekend of October, we are putting all of our hope into a better world where it is safe to meet in person by then. Knowing that things may not progress as fast as we like, we will make a final decision by July 23rd on whether to cancel the live event.
Vendor Information will be coming out shortly.
Fiber Fusion Northwest 2021
When: October 16th & 17th
Where: Evergreen State Fairgrounds, Monroe, WA
We look forward to seeing you all at Fiber Fusion Northwest 2021!

Friday, November 20th, 2020:
2020 Newsletter with Fundraiser Update:
|
Greetings Vendors, Volunteers, Instructors, Patrons, & Fans of Fiber Fusion Northwest,
2020 continues to bring it’s challenges and craziness to us all. Currently, my family is arranging virtual meetings for the holidays and yet I find I am looking forward to some free time at home to complete some projects and gather my thoughts. November is the month many of us look to our lives and give thanks. I am thankful for my family, friends, farm, and all the opportunities I have to learn. I hope you all have many things to be thankful for.
Fundraiser Information
I am also thankful for all those who supported Fiber Fusion’s Fundraiser. I am happy to announce that we raised a total of $1,600.71 this year. This includes the $330.48 that was additional money donated during the fundraiser. All monies go directly towards keeping this event free to attend. Thank you everyone!
I had put off announcing the amount raised until now as I straightened out some issues with our fundraiser. Here are the details:
Water Bottle Fundraiser
Water Bottles will be printed around the 30th of November and mailed out to everyone afterwards. The approximate delivery date is now December 15th. Custom Ink apologized for the manufacturing disruption and the delay. You may have noticed that Custom Ink has graciously refunded the cost of shipping to apologize for the delay. We hope you enjoy your water bottles!
Shirt Fundraiser
Alas, the shirts were not immune to the unexpected strangeness found in 2020. You may notice the following printing issues: the greyscale image was lightened, the logo was simplified, and some prints are off center and/or askew. To save you from all the details on why, the upshot is that Custom Ink are willing to reprint your shirts if you desire.
While Custom Ink is happily willing to correct the error, I wondered how many of us might decide to enjoy the oddity of the misprinted shirts. We originally chose the sheared and frazzled-looking sheep and the stubborn alpaca wearing the mask off the nose because they seemed appropriate to the reality of 2020 and at the same time we hoped the sight of animals in masks would bring humor to the world. Now with the misprints, it seems doubly amusing to me. I have chosen to only replace a few of my family’s shirts. I did ask for replacements for the 2021 Fiber Fusion auction shirts, that seemed appropriate.
If you would like your shirt reprinted, please call or email Custom Ink directly.
To allow for the higher detailed printing, the shirts will be replaced with the closest possible matches. All heathered shirts will be replaced with solid colors.

Greetings Vendors, Volunteers, Instructors, Patrons, and Fans of Fiber Fusion Northwest,
First off, thank you to everyone for your continued support of our event, even in these trying times.
I need to start by profusely apologizing for the delay in news. Sadly, it is not good. We tried our best to find creative solutions to move online this year. We welcomed you to join us on a journey into uncharted waters. Well, ‘thar be dragons!’ Unfortunately, with our proverbial ship adrift, we are unable to bring Fiber Fusion online for 2020.
An event like Fiber Fusion is like taking a new ship on a journey each year. It may have the same general design, but every year the ship has some new quirks. This year, we were building our own ship out of spare parts and it was looking good. A crocheted mast, woven sails, and the hull shaped from discarded spinning wheels and drop spindles knitted together. As it got close to the water, the wheels became nervous and started to spin, which took up the slack in our knitting. The drop spindles started dropping away and upon hitting the water it all unraveled. We tried to force the pieces back together (it wasn’t like we would run out of yarn), but at a certain point it’s more bailing water than mending. All you can do is jump in, enjoy the water, and hope next year’s ship is a bit more shipshape.
2020 might have gotten the better of us, and while we are broken-hearted, at least we can now put all of our energy into our 10th Annual event in 2021.
From our whole team, we want to thank everyone for being there and for your offers of help. We hope that everyone is surviving 2020 and finding some silver lining to add to their fiber!
Wishing you all well,
Heidi Lucey
Fiber Fusion Chairman
PS: I have withheld a bit of good news for the end. It looks like we will be able to sell some shirts and even a cup for a fundraiser this year. Look for it to start soon!

Saturday April 25th, 2020 Update:
Dear Fiber Fusion NW fans and participants,
It’s clear 2020 is turning into an unusual year.
We are sad to announce we’ve decided the best course of action is to focus on public safety and cancel Fiber Fusion 2020 at this time.
We know this seems early, but the amount of planning to bring this festival into fruition is huge. Canceling early allows us time to think outside of the box and bring Fiber Fusion Northwest to our fiber community online!
As the last few weeks have taught us, our limitations are never hampered by the ability to physically get together - only by our desire to learn and explore.
Of course as always, we welcome volunteers, ideas, and expertise. As always, our goal is to educate and bring together our diverse community of fiber artists, producers and the public.
We hope you all join us online this year. Please keep an eye out on our website, our Facebook page, Instagram, and Ravelry for announcements. As we think our way out of the box, we’ll let you know what we find.
We are already proceeding with plans to resume our in-person event again in October, 2021, when we can look forward to seeing you all in person again!
