SpinPossible: Long Draw
There are several drafting techniques that will make a wonderful, woolen yarn. This class will examine woolen fiber preparations and will discuss woolen and semi-woolen drafting techniques for successfully spinning woolen singles. We will also discuss and demonstrate techniques for plying and finishing woolen spun singles to get a structurally sound yarn for knitting or weaving.
Required Skills: Successful students will have a good working relationship with their spinning wheels, be able to spin a consistent single, and have some experience plying and finishing yarn.

Supplies Student Should Bring to Class: A spinning wheel in good working condition with extra bobbins, notebook, lazy kate (if you have one). Bring any tools you might like to use (hand cards, mini-combs) and any fiber you would like to practice with.
Supplies Provided by Instructor: Students will receive a variety of woolen preparations (including batts, rolags, and carded rovings) to practice longdraw techniques. Students will also receive various tops to practice longdraw “over the fold.”
