Textural Hat Felting
Description: Just in time for chilly weather, students will create their choice of hat styles in this one-day class. Perfect for beginning felt makers, students will learn how to cross hatch loose fibers, and how many layers of wool it takes to create a sturdy hat, versus a flimsy one. Students learn how to use a plastic resist pattern, and the difference between closed and open resists. Have fun playing with up-cycled, textural fabrics, such as burned-out velour, sequin embellished silk chiffon and more. Creating matching flowers will be discussed. Some students will complete their hat in class, others may need a second fulling session after they go home.
