Description: In this class, we will discuss the principles of wet and dry felting, and then proceed
to create an idyllic scene of grazing sheep in the shadow of distant mountains and a small
“bothy.” First, a canvas will be created, then fibers laid out in a “painterly” fashion, followed by
wet felting. A wide variety of fibers are used, including merino roving and batts, silk, bamboo
and rose fibers. Due to time constraints, the picture will not be completed in class but the materials and instructions to do so will be provided. This is a great, exploratory class, a chance to learn all the basics to continue in this beautiful and organic art form...let the fibers do the talking!
Required Skills: No skills required; beginners welcome!
Students Should Bring to Class: Please bring a small pair of sharp scissors and one large bath towel
Supplies Provided by Instructor: All supplies to complete the project are provided: all the wool roving/batt fibers, silk, bamboo and rose fibers (20+ different colors); embroidery thread, iron-on backing, felting needles, bamboo mat, felting pad, netting, written instructions.
