Description: 2-handed Fair Isle is the next step up from stranded knitting. In this class, we start with a multi-use 2 color cast on and dive into weaving our yarns as we go to create a beautifully woven backside as opposed to the dreaded puckering floats known to Fair Isle knitting. This technique blends both picking and throwing (Continental and English) which eliminates puckering, floats and traps. We will discuss pro’s and con’s to this technique, how to read a chart and the importance of color dominance. This technique becomes a game changer in the world of color! Several complimentary hat patterns will be provided in class.
Required Skills: Able to knit in the round comfortably, Have completed 1 hat. Basic colorworks helps, but not necessary.
Students Should Bring to Class: 3 partial skeins of contrasting yet complimenting worsted weight yarn, size US#7, 16-inch circular needles (from tip to tip) and basic knitting supplies (stitch markers, scissors etc). Please note that knitting needles must but be 16” from tip to tip in order to work a hat in class. Any longer of a circular needle will not work in class. Preferred yarn should be smooth (not thick/thin, nor highly variegated)
Supplies Provided by Instructor: Several complimentary hat patterns
