Location: 4-H Building
Description: When you first think of a traditional shawl, top down triangle pops right to mind. Expand your triangle shaping knowledge and learn bottom up shaping, along with asymmetric, and side-to-side triangle shapes. Sierra will have a row by row written instruction for each shape and guide you through some mini shawls to practice and give you confidence to tackle new projects. Along with instruction you’ll receive some hands on time with Sierra’s different design samples in the shapes we are learning so that you can see them in larger form and try them on!
Required Skills: Basic knitting skills are requires: Cast on, knit stitch, simple decreasing (k2tog, ssk), picking up is preferred but not required, reading patterns is required.
Students Should Bring to Class: Supplies to bring are Dk weight or heavier yarn in a few different colors, corresponding needle size for the yarn weight you brought, stitch markers, and a notebook + writing utensil for notes if preferred
Supplies Provided by Instructor: multipage written instructions for each of the shawl shapes discussed in class; written instructions include formulas for each shawl shape so students can start designing with the shapes post class.
