Wool Fiber Preparation for Washing

Minimum age of students: Ages 16 and up (no parent required)

Location: 4-H Building


Description: Someone gave you a fleece! Woohoo! Ok, now what? Wool comes in so many varieties, lengths, colors, thicknesses. In this course, you will learn the different properties of wool and how to “skirt” a fleece to prepare it for the next step of washing. You will learn different ways to wash your fleece depending on its characteristics and desired outcome for your project!


Required Skills:  No previous experience required

Students Should Bring to Class:  Comfortable shoes as we will be standing for much of the class

Supplies Provided by Instructor: Your instructor will provide a variety of fleeces for skirting and different types of washing agents and why each are important
