Description: Do you already spin on a drop spindle or Turkish spindle but want to learn some more techniques that are possible on a Turkish spindle? Then come spin with me. We will go over the basics of spinning on a Turkish spindle and then dive into learning how to use the Turkish spindle as a supported spindle, how to accomplish different draws, and how to ply on the fly (meaning spinning a bit of single, then plying it, then repeating these two steps without removing the yarn from the spindle).
Required Skills: Student can spin a continuous single on a drop spindle or Turkish spindle.
Students Should Bring to Class: Student should bring a turkish spindle and a small bowl that the tip of the spindle can spin in without the arms hitting the bowl (instructor will have some for use in class if you don’t bring one). I will also have some Turkish spindles available if you need to borrow one for class.
Supplies Provided by Instructor: I will provide a variety of fiber preps and types and a handout covering the workshop skills.
