Description: Handknit socks are cozy, portable, and rewarding to make. This workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of sock construction while guiding them through starting a cuff-down sock. Students will learn essential techniques including the anatomy of a sock, the relationship between the elements of the sock, turning a heel, and shaping the toe. By the end of class, participants will have a sock “mini-sample” and the knowledge and resources to complete the project independently.
Required Skills: Student should be able to knit, purl, work in the round in a small circumference, and decrease stitches (ssk and k2tog).
Students Should Bring to Class: Students should bring 15-20 grams of fingering of DK weight yarn, preferred needles for working in the round in a small circumference (dpns, magic loop, or 2 circulars), stitch markers, and notions. It is helpful for students to use the Zoom app during class to see instructor’s demonstrations up close, on their own devices.
Supplies Provided by Instructor: Pattern and resources to complete the project independently.
