Over the Rainbow:  Intro to Tablet Weaving on a Rainbow Warp

Day: Saturday

Time: 9:30pm - 4:30pm

Hours required: 6 (plus 1 for lunch)

Minimum number of students: 5

Maximum number of students: 12

Minimum age of student: 16

Total Class Fee (includes $25 materials fee):  $168

Location: 4-H Building


Description: This one day class will jump-start your understanding of tablet weaving. You will learn how to setup and weave, read a pattern, and make your own designs in the 4x4 technique using a “rainbow" warp that reveals the mechanics that make tablet weaving work. At the end of the day you will make a new warp to weave at home. The concepts taught in this class will provide a foundation that will help you to understand a variety of tablet weaving techniques.


Required Skills:  This class is designed for the beginner, but is also suitable if you have done some tablet weaving but want a better understanding of how it works.

Students Should Bring to Class:  Please bring note taking materials, pencil and eraser, sharp scissors. A pair of warping pegs or C clamps is helpful, but the instructor will have extras available.

Supplies Provided by Instructor: You will receive a pre-made "rainbow" warp, cards and yarn for a 2nd warp, full color handout, and the use of a loom and shuttle during class.
