Raw Wool Fiber Preparation for Fiber Arts

Class Description: You find yourself at a fiber festival, you see a raw fleece, but your brain says, “What do I do with that?”. In this workshop you will learn how to identify the qualities of a good fleece, how to skirt it after you have taken it home and how to prepare and wash that fleece for future fiber projects such as spinning or felting. We will also discuss the various qualities of wool and their different uses. Wendy Clark is a spinner, fiber arts instructor, and is currently working through the Master Spinner Certification program at Olds College. She is also a Sheppard to a small flock of Finn sheep. She has had a love affair with fiber all her life. Come join her on this exciting learning journey into the world of wool!
