Magic Loop Sock Knitting – 1 sock at a time
Instructor: Lisa Ellis
Required Skills: Beginning Intermediate. Basic sock knitting experience is helpful, but not necessary.
Class Description: Socks is to knitting as Ballet is to Dance - once you can knit a pair of socks, you can knit anything. But….very few knitters actually enjoy knitting on double pointed needles SO that’s where the magic loop technique comes in! We’ll learn how to knit one sock at a time using the Magic Loop technique. Contrary to double points, you are less likely to lose stitches off the needle, there are fewer connection jogs and this technique allows you to try on the sock as you progress. We’ll also cover how to convert traditional double pointed needle patterns to the magic loop technique.
Note: This is not a class on 2 socks at a time.
Student Should Bring to Class:
- 1 skein of fingering weight sock yarn
- Appropriate needle size for chosen yarn (US# 2, 40” - 48" circular needles)
Note: Loose knitters may want to go down to a size #1 needle
- Crochet hook of appropriate size for fingering weight yarn
Day: Saturday
Time: 1:00 to 5:00
Cost: $57
