We will briefly talk about the history of Jacob sheep before exploring the fleece. Working from clean fleece and prepared samples, we will spin directly from fleece, worsted, and woolen preparations.
Students will receive a breed study folder to hold their samples and notes on spinning this wonderful breed.
Required Skills: Students should be able to spin a continuous thread on their wheel.
Students Should Bring to Class: A spinning wheel or spindle that the student is comfortable with along with anything they need to create plied samples (3 bobbins, lazy kate, and a niddy noddy are recommended).
Optional: Students are welcome to bring hand cards, wool combs, or flick carders. There will be a limited number of tools available in the class for students who want to explore their use.
Supplies Provided by Instructor: Wool and breed study folder will be provided.
