Rabbit Hill Wool Mill (located in the Pavilion) |
Rabbit Hill Wool Mill is a family owned and operated small business in Port Orchard Washington. We have four Finn Gotland cross sheep, ranging in color from gray to black, that live on our almost four-acre farm. Our equipment purchase from Ramella was done with the idea of processing finer fibers in mind, but it will also process coarser fibers. The main body of our mill consists of a carder, pin drafter, and a 24 head spinner. We also have a 60-inch-wide needle felting machine which we are currently using to make felt sheets and lap blankets. Sewing felt into accessories and other things we can do with the needle felter are projects that we are currently working on.

The Spinning Wheel Lady, Betty Roberts |
I was loaned the special equipment to make my first wheels when I knew not what was needed and didn't have the money to buy such a thing. Plus the machine was in pieces. I went to the library and lo and behold, it was the owner's manual of that device I found!! I am sure it all was a gift of God that started this career over 55 years ago as there is no set of directions out there for what I have been blessed to do. I still use an identical machine in making the wheels.
I will have for sale: Special Design Niddy Noddies, Fuzz Boxes, similar to the old Foozle Baskets for pinches of stuff off of the spinning yarn, flyer threading hooks with wooden handles, dizz/s and hooks to pull wool through different sized holes, and pendant charms with wild flowers inlaid like the flowers in the spinning wheels. PROVERBS 31:13 - She seeks flax and wool; her hands are never idle. This verse was given to me by a Messianic Jew (Holocaust survivor) who had never seen me before. I have been a Christian about 60+ years. I feel my main business is to give God the credit for what I know has been all a gift to me. |
